Ruth E. Hartleben

Ruth E. Hartleben, 90, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at her home. Ruth was born Aug. 18, 1931, in Bonduel to the late Emil and Dora (Wolf) Hartwig. She graduated from Bonduel High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Orville Hartleben, her sweetheart since 1948, on Oct. 21, 1950, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Town of Washington. She owned and operated Ruthie’s Shawano News for 35 years in Shawano. She also worked at Numismatic News and was a secretary for Engel Moving.

Ruth enjoyed dancing with Orville and loved her home “next to God.” Ruth was kind, caring, generous to everyone and always thankful. She was a wonderful wife and mother and loved spending time with her family and having fun with her children, grandchildren and many friends.

Ruth is survived by her children, Donna Pollack and Steven (Sue) Hartleben; seven grandchildren, Michelle, William, Elizabeth, Christopher, Stacy, Joseph and Vinnie; nine great-grandchildren, Oliver, Gabby, Quinton, Angel, Lirah, Emily, Serina, Leia and Jacob, great-great-grandson, Ryker, and two brothers. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Hartleben; parents, Emil and Dora Hartwig; daughter, Diane Buchert; two sisters; and one brother.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano from 10-11 a.m., followed by graveside services at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Washington with the Rev. Steve Conradt officiating.
