Rubber Soul reschedules two shows

WITTENBERG — Rubber Soul Productions, LLC, has announced the new performance dates for Dale Watson and His Lone Stars and The Gibson Brothers.

The Dale Watson show will take place at 4 p.m. Sept. 27, while The Gibson Brothers will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1. Both shows will be in the auditorium at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School, 400 W. Mill St., Wittenberg.

Watson has flown the flag for classic honky-tonk for over two decades. He’s christened his brand of American roots “Ameripolitan” to differentiate it from current crop of Nashville-based pop country. The Alabama-born, Texas-raised Watson may be the hardest working entertainer today and is rapidly approaching legendary status. He is a country music maverick, a true outlaw who stands alongside Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and George Strait as one of the finest country singers and songwriters from the Lone Star State.

The Gibson Brothers are making their second appearance in Wittenberg, first performing in 2017. The Gibson Brothers — siblings Eric and Leigh Gibson — have already made over a dozen albums, but none quite like the new Dan Auerbach-produced “Mockingbird.” Their newest venture is an effortless blend of classic 1970s-infused rock and timeless country, a modern twist on their traditional sound, and harmonies that will keep you wishing for more.

The celebrated duo — named back-to-back Entertainers of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association in 2012 and 2013 — played the Nashville game two decades ago, while in their early 20s, and were offered a major label deal, only to be told at the last minute that they were too “retro” for modern country music.

Reserved tickets for both shows are available at Hanke’s Sentry Foods in Wittenberg or online at www.rubbersoulproductions.com.
