Rosella A. Ryczek

Rosella “Rose” Antonette Ryczek, 85, of Abrams, passed away peacefully on Aug. 1, 2021. Rose was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Wausaukee to the late Anton and Caroline (DeGroot) Edlbeck. She married Ernest (Ernie) J. Ryczek on May 23, 1957. Those who knew Rose would always feel a warm welcome and a feeling of being family. She was the most generous person and a devout Catholic. Rose and her husband, Ernie, owned and operated the Candle Glow Inn in Abrams for well over a decade. Rose would hostess in beautiful dresses with up-do hair and ensured guests felt a sense of belonging and enjoyed themselves. After leaving the Candle Glow Inn, Rose and her husband enjoyed traveling the United States in their RV during the winter and spending the summers in Wisconsin with family and friends. Rose’s talents were many; she was an excellent accordion player, singer, seamstress, crocheter and cook. She enjoyed volunteering and most importantly being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to many. Her laugh was contagious.

Rose is survived by her husband, Ernie Ryczek; sister, Betty Novak; children, Ed (Sheryl) Ryczek, Gary (Lorrie) Ryczek, Brad (Lona) Ryczek, Andy (Deana) Ryczek, Vickie (Ted) Rivera and Guy Ryczek. She is a loving grandmother to Chad (Kristin) Ryczek, Mason Ryczek, Austin (Megan) Ryczek, Hunter (Becky) Ryczek, Hannah Ryczek, Clinton (Brianna) Ryczek, Trina Ryczek, Alex (Jenna) Ryczek, Riley (Joe) Melgar, Brady Ryczek, Gabrielle (Jordan) Rivera-Ehrlich, Matthew Rivera and Brianna Jo Ryczek. Rose is a great-grandmother to eight and one on the way. Rose was predeceased by her brothers, Bernard, Fred, Harold, Dick and Edward, and sisters, Celia Edlebeck, Theresa Dessart, Catherine DeLeat, sister, Eleanore Edlebeck O.P and sister, Lucy Edlebeck O.P

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, with prayer services by the Rev. Francis Nusi at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, Sobieski. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Francis Nusi officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery.
