Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, and will miss the team’s upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The news was first reported on Twitter by Tom Pelissero, a reporter for NFL Network.

Pelissero’s tweet read: “Sources: #Packers QB Aaron Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 and is out for Sunday’s game against the #Chiefs.”

In a follow-up tweet, Pelissero wrote that Rodgers informed the team of the news and that backup Jordan Love will be making his first career start against Kansas City.

If a player is vaccinated and tests negative two times in a row, they could still play on Sunday, but it was reported that Rodgers was unvaccinated, which already rules him out for Sunday’s game.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted, “#Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is unvaccinated, per me and @MikeGarafolo. That’s why he’s out for Sunday vs. the #Chiefs.”

Back on Aug. 26 when asked about being vaccinated, Rodgers said: “Yeah, I’ve been immunized.”

Rodgers went on to say, “You know, there’s a lot of conversation around it. You know, there’s guys on the team that haven’t been vaccinated.”

The Packers were without wide receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard last week because of COVID-19 protocols. Third-string quarterback Kurt Benkert tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, so Love is the only quarterback available for the Chiefs game at this moment.
