Raymond Kauffman

Raymond Kauffman, 78, of Crystal Falls, Mich., entered into the eternal trout stream on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.

He was born Nov. 10, 1944, in Tigerton, son to Earl and Wilma (Reinert) Kauffman. Raymond graduated from Tigerton High School in 1963. He served in the United States Marine Corps in 1970 during Vietnam with an honorable discharge. He attended Laten College for Arts in Milwaukee. On Aug. 21, 1971, Raymond married the love of his life, Sigrid Koski. In 1981, he moved to Crystal Falls, Michigan, and retired as a welder from Systems Control.

Raymond had a passion for fishing, especially fly fishing. He also taught fly tying classes and fly rod building. He enjoyed hunting, wood carving, wildlife painting, speed painting, auctions, restoring guns, making tomahawk peace pipes, and restoring muscle cars. Raymond also had a special gift of gab and loved to talk to people. In his later years, he enjoyed doing puzzles at the Crystal Falls Library.

Raymond is survived by his son, Mark Kauffman, Crystal Falls; daughter, Laura (Jesse) Kauffman, Crystal Falls; sister, Rosann (Bill) Herman, Bowler; brothers-in-law, Victor (Virgina) Koski, Crystal Falls, Michael (Paulette) Koski, Wausau, and Earl (Bonnie) Koski, Crystal Falls; numerous, nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sigrid Kauffman; daughter, Crystal Rose Kauffman; brother, Ron Kauffman; and sisters, EddaMae Bohardt and Corrine Bohl.

In accordance with Raymond’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. at Tuft Rondon VFW Post 2891, 108 Superior Ave, Crystal Falls, Michigan.
