Pulaski stays hot with win over Hofa Park

Many Dairyland League teams passed the halfway point of their 2020 summer schedule on Sunday. Pulaski, Nichols, Hortonville, Waupaca and Navarino all earned wins.

Pulaski 3, Hofa Park 1

The Pulaski Reds remained the league’s only unbeaten team, toppling the Hofa Park Panthers on Sunday in Pulaski.

Garrett Kaczrowski led the way for Pulaski, earning the win on the mound after pitching 8 2/3 innings. Joel Vandehei got the final out to earn the save.

Dan Sabin and Vandehei each finished with two hits for the Reds.

Bob Tilot posted two hits and Carson Williquette drove in the run for Hofa Park, which fell to 1-4 overall. Jon Zacherius suffered the loss after working the first 7 1/3 innings.

Waupaca 7, Shawano 3

The Waupaca Lakeman improved to 4-1 on the season after a home win over the Shawano Lobos on Sunday.

Wes Austin and Jacob Popham each had two hits for Waupaca, while Brenden Canterbury drove in a pair of runs.

Cam Seidl earned the victory on the hill, striking out 10 batters over six innings. Jim Nighbor worked the final three innings.

Grant Bystol recorded three hits for Shawano, which dropped to 2-2.

Hortonville 6, Bonduel 1

The Hortonville Stars scored five runs over the final two innings to steal a road win over the Bonduel Broncos on Sunday.

After Hortonville took the lead in the fifth, Bonduel tied it with a run in the sixth. The Stars (2-2) regained the lead with a run in the eighth before plating four runs in the ninth.

Colan Treml earned the win for Hortonville after striking out eight batters over seven frames.

Luke Kostreva had two hits for Bonduel (3-2) while J.C. Reinke drove in the run. Mitch Pleshek took the loss, but struck out 10 batters over 8 1/3 innings.

Nichols 3, Freedom 2

The Nichols Nitros edged the Freedom Mets in 10 innings on Sunday in Nichols.

Freedom (1-4) took the lead with a two-run eighth, only to have Nichols (3-2) respond with two runs of its own in the bottom half.

Trevor Cornell drove in all three runs for Nichols. He singled home Justin Krull to win it.

Krull earned the win after pitching 4 2/3 innings in relief of Sam Fonder, who struck out 10 batters during his time on the bump.

Braden Schneider and Travis Vander Loop drove in a run each for Freedom. Schneider took the loss after relieving Hunter Schabo, who tallied six strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.

Navarino 5, Cecil 1

The Navarino Rangers secured their third win of the season after taking down the Cecil Mudhens on Sunday in Cecil.

Navarino (3-2) scored four times in the third inning to seize control of the game. The team’s final run came in the seventh, matching Cecil’s only run in the previous half inning.

Navarino’s Ryan Boettcher earned the win after working six innings, while Paul Sellner worked the final three frames. Matt Krause drove in two runs, while Brett Krull scored twice.

Brandon Hagel drove in Cecil’s run. The Mudhens are now 0-5.
