The Pulaski Police Department reminds residents of the local ordinances regarding the use of mini dirt bikes, electric bikes, electric skateboards, mopeds and other modes of transportation.

“Your cooperation helps keep our community safe and enjoyable for everyone,” the department said in a statement. “Let’s make this summer safe and fun for all.”

Mopeds, electric scooters and electric bicycles are allowed on roadways, while mini bikes, mini ATVs and electric skateboards are not. Riders of mopeds and electric scooters must be at least 16, while electric bike riders must be 16 only if the throttle power reaches speeds up to 28 miles per hour.

Mopeds are the only type of these vehicles that require a driver’s license to operate on roadways, but all can be used on private property.

Mopeds are also the only vehicles that need at Department of Motor Vehicles title and must be registered with the DMV. Safety equipment (headlights for night driving, lights, brakes and turn signals) is also required on mopeds.

Passengers are not permitted on any of these vehicles.
