Pulaski football team edges Slinger to advance

Red Raiders to host level 3 matchup

The Pulaski High School football team edged Slinger 10-7 in a level two Division 2 postseason contest Oct. 29 in Pulaski to keep its season alive.

Third-seeded Pulaski got on the scoreboard first when senior Aaron Maroszek broke free for a 39-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter.

Senior Will Steeno knocked in a 39-yard field goal at the end of the first half to put the Red Raiders up 10-0.

Seventh-seeded Slinger scored a touchdown with just over three minutes remaining in the third quarter, but it turned out to be the final score in the contest.

Maroszek powered the Pulaski running attack, gaining 120 yards on 18 carries. Junior Maverick Cole had 82 rushing yards on 12 carries.

Maroszek also hauled in a 25-yard pass during the win. Junior Jacob Doxtater had a 49-yard reception.

Senior Jake Laskowski picked off a pass for Pulaski, while junior Trevan Fatla was credited with a forced fumble.

Senior Max Burdette led the Red Raiders’ defense with 12 total tackles. Junior Jake Adams contributed six total tackles, while senior Ben Suchalla had five.

Senior Aaron Hawpetoss had two of the team’s four sacks. Fatla and senior Addison Pederson had a sack each.

With the win, Pulaski advances to level three of the postseason, where fourth-seeded Hartford awaits. Pulaski will host the game at 7 p.m. Nov. 5.

Hartford upset top-seeded De Pere 43-42 in overtime to advance.
