Pulaski’s Shaw wins Seymour Cross-Country Invite

Bonduel, Witt-Birn place runners inside top-10 at Don Chase Relays

Pulaski High School’s T.J. Shaw won the Seymour Cross-Country Invite with a time of 16 minutes, 44 seconds on Oct. 7 in Seymour.

Shaw’s first-place finish helped the Pulaski boys take eighth place with a total team score of 216. The Shawano boys claimed third with a score of 83.

On the girls side, the Pulaski girls had a score of 164 to place fifth. Shawano did not qualify for a team score with only four runners in action.

Connor Heezen (17:57.3) placed 24th and was the second Pulaski boys runner across the finish line, while Nick Symons took 52nd with a time of 18:36. Connor Nooyen (19:16.6) claimed 74th, while Griffin Nowak (19:21.9) was 77th to cap the team score.

Ethan Onesti (16:50.9) and Will Chelberg (17:13) led the Shawano boys by placing third and fifth, respectively.

Aidan Preston (17:28.7) took 15th, while Andon Chelberg (17:29.6) was 16th and Connor Chelberg (18:29.4) 45th to round out the team’s top five.

Angela Opolka was the top finisher for the Pulaski girls, taking 19th in 20:48.8. Olivia Stedl (20:57.7) wasn’t too far behind her, taking 21st.

Rachael Allen (21:33.2), Jada Fischer (21:49.1) and Grace Goodness (21:56.8) filled out the team’s top five, placing 42nd, 50th and 53rd, respectively.

Grace Beyer led the Shawano girls with a seventh-place finish in 19:53.7. Lily Guenther (20:18.8) was 11th, while Grace Chelberg (20:30.1) took 15th. Adalyn Barkley (22:40.1) was the final runner, finishing 78th.

Don Chase Relays

Several area teams took part in the Don Chase Relays on Oct. 7 in Weyauwega, with three boys runners from Bonduel and Wittenberg-Birnamwood placing inside the top 10.

The Witt-Birn boys took seventh place with a total score of 148. Simon Schairer led the team with a seventh-place finish in 18:19.3.

Craig Wendel (19:35.3) took 21st, while Mason Meverden (19:44.3) was 22nd for the Chargers. Owen Schultz (21:07.7) claimed 50th and Ian Salvesen (22:35.2) 67th to fill out the team’s top five.

The Bonduel boys came in eighth with a total score of 179. Cooper Uelmen (18:26) and Ben O’Brien (18:30.7) placed sixth and eighth, respectively, to lead the team.

Race Anvelink (20:14.6), Ben Reisner (23:57.5) and Keaton Bahr (30:34) filled out the Bears five-runner team, finishing 35th, 73rd and 81st, respectively.

Menominee Indian had four boys runners competing. Isaiah Moss (19:18.3) led the Eagles with an 18th-place finish.

Lloyd Reevis (19:48) claimed 25th, Francis Delabrau (20:48.2) took 45th and Darus Davis (22:25.2) was 66th for Menominee Indian.

Jaden Stuhr and Jackson Krohn represented the Marion boys team. Stuhr took 44th in 20:45.9, while Krohn was 72nd in 23:27.8.

Gresham/Bowler’s Bryson Nelson claimed 61st in the boys race with a time of 22:03.5. He was the lone runner from the co-op in action.

The Bonduel girls earned a fourth-place finish with a total score of 96. Ashlyn Kurey (21:25.7) led the team with a 10th-place finish.

Kendra Troxel (22:00.4) placed 16th for the Bears, while Teagan Engel (22:13.7) was 18th. Joselyn Bohm (22:49.1) claimed 23rd and Kaitlin Brooks (24:17.7) 40th to fill out the team.

Marion, Witt-Birn and Menominee Indian all had individual girls runners in action.

Bridget Much was Marion’s top runner, posting a time of 27:20.4 to take 56th. Gracie Grogan (32:35.7), Peytra Bailey (33:04.5) and Kelsey Zillmer (35:13) were the other three runners from the team, placing 65th, 66th and 67th, respectively.

Witt-Birn had three runners competing, with Roby Nowinsky’s 32nd-place finish in 23:19.4 leading the charge. Annika Resch (26:07.8) placed 50th, with Amelia Bessert (31:03.9) was 62nd.

Emma Komanekin represented the Menominee Indian girls team, completing the course in 23:18.8 for a 31st-place finish.
