Pulaski High School’s volleyball team had two players named to Fox River Classic Conference teams after the fall season wrapped up.

Junior Emily Bruss not only made the first team, but was named the Co-Player of the Year in the conference. Junior Alexia Thibodeau landed on the honorable mention list.

Bruss’ Co-Player of the Year nod comes after making the honorable mention list as a freshman and then first team as a sophomore.

“When I got named Co-Player of the Year I was very ecstatic. I was very proud of what I’ve accomplished this season. I also along the way have achieved many goals that I have been working towards,” said Bruss.

“Working hard and dedication is a big part of this award because it shows how dedicated and how hard of a worker I am to succeed to get this award. I am very honored to have received this award, because it shows not only that my teammates and coaches see my hard work, other coaches around me see my hard work as well.”

Bruss racked up 593 assists on the season, an average of 6 per set. She was third on the team with 235 digs while leading the team with 52 service aces. The junior was second on the team with 141 service points

Proving her all-around ability on the court, Bruss also tallied 116 attack kills (fourth on the team) and 32 blocks (third on the team).

She shared the Player of the Year honor with Manitowoc Lincoln junior Maddie York.

“This honor is huge because this will definitely motivate me even more next season to achieve even more,” said Bruss. “I will continually be working hard in the offseason to make myself stronger and a better volleyball player.

“Especially since club season is coming up, I will be working even harder to compete and play at that high level. I will keep working on getting stronger, bigger, faster, so that my work will pay off in the long run next season. I can’t wait for the next season to come.”

Thibodeau earned her first all-conference honor this fall.

“To me being named FRCC honorable mention is a big accomplishment and also means to me that all of the hard work I’ve put into this sport throughout the years is paying off,” said Thibodeau.

The junior led the Red Raiders with 188 attack kills on the season, doing so in just 74 sets played for an average of 2.5 a set.

Thibodeau was fourth on the team in digs (189), aces (20) and service points (127) and fifth in total blocks (17).

“For next school season, reaching the accomplishment I’ve reached I know it’ll make me work even harder to see what else I can achieve as a student-athlete,” said Thibodeau.

Pulaski finished the conference portion of the schedule with a 4-5 record, good enough for sixth in the FRCC.
