Pie auction raises $6,600 for St. Jude Children's Hospital

An old-fashioned pie auction was held Jan. 2 as part of Yoap & Yoap’s New Year Auction in Stiles Junction.

The auction raised $6,600 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. This is the seventh year of the local fundraiser.

Thirty homemade pies were provided by Rosemary Styczynski of Gillett, Red Rooster Café of Bonduel, OJ’s Midtown of Gillett and Wayne’s Family Restaurant of Oconto.

Donations were made by Mountain View Transport of Coleman, R.L. Hall Land Title Co. of Oconto & Shawano, Oak Ridge Taxidermy of Marinette, Double “K” Express of Coleman, Peshtigo National Bank, Beaver Machine of Coleman, Zeitler Ag of Coleman, Dan Risner & Son Excavating of Pound, Dan Bieber Equipment of Pound, Wisconsin-Michigan Insurance Agency of Marinette & Coleman, Simply Charming Boutique of Marinette, Jesse Dufeck Livestock Trucking of Coleman, Charapata Seed Sales of Peshtigo, Collector’s Paradise Antique Mall of Middle Inlet, Freedom Foods LLC of Pulaski, Jim Arndt Farm Supply of Lena, Photography by Trista Yoap of Coleman, Cowtown Acres Custom Baling & Wrapping of Coleman, Nick Krause Dairy Farm of Gillett, Gold Medal Trailer Sales of Merrill and Lakeside Recycling of Cecil. Several other donations were made by area individuals to help the cause of St. Jude Hospital.

Yoap & Yoap Auctioneers started the fundraiser at the first Holiday Auction in their new Auction Gallery in 2014 and raised $2,000. Each year saw more businesses and individuals taking part, and the auction company said this year’s auction results were really unexpected.

To date, the annual pie auctions have raised almost $40,000 to help with the life-saving efforts and research carried out by St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
