Phyllis M. Johnson

Phyllis M. Johnson, 85, Oconto Falls died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Meadowbrook Health and Rehab. The fourth daughter of Frank and Gladys (Cleary) Plain was born June 22, 1935 in Oconto Falls. Phyllis, one of seven sisters affectionately known as “The Plain Girls,” graduated high school with the class of 1953.

On Oct. 9, 1954, she married James “Jimmy” Johnson at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. Phyllis lived in Oconto Falls all of her life where she was a faithful member of the St. Anthony parish. She was a devoted wife and mother who also enjoyed time spent with her sisters.

Survivors are her three sisters and four brothers-in-law, Joanne (Ray) Stewart, Mary B. (Wes) McNeal, all of Loudon, Tennessee; Kathleen (Perry) Ankerson, Green Bay; Bill Zietlow, Oconto Falls; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmy in 2015, their only son David in 2012, and three sisters, Sister M. Joanne, Lois (Bill) Johnston and Pat Zietlow.

Visitation will take place after 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Fr. Greg Parent officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Jones Funeral Service is serving the Johnson family.
