Packers announce roster moves

The Green Bay Packers have released tight end Jace Sternberger, signed safety Shawn Davis and defensive lineman RJ McIntosh to the practice squad and released defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson and guard/tackle Jacob Capra from the practice squad.

General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Sept. 21.

Davis is a 5-foot-11, 202-pound rookie out of the University of Florida who was originally selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth round (No. 165 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was released following training camp and was on the Colts’ practice squad until Sept. 16.

Davis appeared in 37 games with 16 starts for the Gators, recording 124 tackles (76 solo), 5.5 tackles for a loss, 15 passes defensed, five interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He was named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2018 and 2019.

Davis will wear No. 30 for the Packers.

McIntosh is a 6-5, 286-pound fourth-year player out of the University of Miami (Florida) who was originally selected by the New York Giants in the fifth round (No. 139 overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played in 18 games for the Giants (2018-20), recording 18 tackles (10 solo) and two sacks.

After being released by the Giants on Aug. 11, 2021, McIntosh was claimed off waivers by the New Orleans Saints, but he was released following training camp.

He will wear No. 99 for the Packers.

Packers place Dafney on injured reserve

The Packers have placed tight end Dominique Dafney on injured reserve.
