Two Oconto Falls natives have established an online auction marketplace aimed specifically at residents in and around their hometown.

WiscoBid.com allows customers to bid for items online but pick them up locally in Oconto Falls.

“It’s all the fun of eBay, with no shipping fee and high-interest items picked specially for local Wisconsin residents,” said Kyle Piper, who established WiscoBid.com with Nolan O’Connell. “Registering to bid is free, and every item on WiscoBid.com starts the bidding at just $1 with no reserves.”

O’Connell has previous business experience running the online bidding for a large auction company in Green Bay. Piper is the grandson of longtime Oconto Falls residents, the late Audrey and Earl Piper.

“My grandma was pretty much the queen of auctions and rummage sales in Oconto Falls for many years,” Piper said. “My interest in buying and selling totally comes from her.”

Online auctions are one of the fastest growing industries today, especially in the wake of COVID-19 concerns, Piper said.

“We were going to wait until the virus situation was gone [to launch WiscoBid.com], but with people not traveling as much, they are looking for new and interesting ways to shop from home,” he said.

The first items are up for auction now on the easy-to-navigate website. Each auction will have a pickup day assigned at the start of the auction. The pickup location is on Main Street in Oconto Falls.

O’Connell said the partners plan to offer items in a wide variety of categories.

“Each auction is unique. We try to have a large variety of items on each auction so there will be something for everyone,” O’Connell said. “We also plan to add in some smaller item auctions, such as sports collectibles and even Pokémon.”

WiscoBid.com also plans to take in consignment items. For information, contact WiscoBid.com through their website.
