The Oconto County Sheriff’s Department said dispatchers were notified about 5:53 a.m. that the crash had occurred on County Road M east of Neta Lane in the town of Sprice.

Justin M. Hensel Sr., 34, Suring, was thrown from the sport utility vehicle and died at the scene. His passenger, Britanny D. Van Hecke, 31, was taken by ambulance to a Green Bay hospital for treatment of her injuries.

According to the accident report, Hensel drove onto the eastbound shoulder and apparently overcorrected. The SUV began to spin and entered the north ditch, overturning in the soft ground. He was ejected and pinned under the vehicle when it came to rest, the report said.
