Oconto Falls FFA earns ag literacy grant

Oconto Falls is one of eight Wisconsin FFA chapters to have been awarded $500 grants through Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom’s inaugural FFA Food for America Ag Literacy Grant program.

These grants will provide financial support to FFA chapters with plans for executing and evaluating agriculture literacy activities as part of Wisconsin FFA’s Food for America program.

The Oconto Falls chapter’s program is called “Shoes to Fill.”

In the 2022-23 school year, Wisconsin FFA chapters reported activities reaching over 48,000 Wisconsin students and community members. Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom and Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation help support FFA members who are dedicated to our shared mission of increasing agricultural literacy across grades Pre-K through 12th grade through collaboration with educators, industry experts and volunteers.

“The Food for America program provides learning opportunities for students of all ages,” said Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom Coordinator Beth Schaefer. “FFA members develop activities and teach their fellow students, learning core skills in communication and project management. Participants enjoy learning from a peer, which is an incredibly powerful educational experience.”
