Oconto Falls’ Whiting wins third state wrestling title

Oconto Falls High School junior Clayton Whiting posted a 3-0 record at the Division 2 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament on Feb. 13 at Adams-Friendship High School for his third state title.

Whiting earned each of the wins by pin to claim first in the 182-pound weight class.

Teammate Graeson Pankratz placed sixth in the 113 weight class after going 1-3 on the day.

At the Division 3 state tournament at Wausau East High School, Bonduel's Max Sokolski and Wittenberg-Birnamwood's David Gauderman each placed fourth in their respective weight classes.

Sokolski finished 2-2 to come in fourth in the 152 weight class. Gauderman had the same record in the 220 class.

Bonduel's Tyson Bogacz finished sixth in the 145 class after going 1-3 on the day.

Lena's Dylan Comins also competed at the Division 3 tournament, going 0-2 and not placing in the 106 weight class.

At the Division 1 tournament at Kaukauna High School, three of Shawano's four state wrestlers placed.

Wyatt Brandt (126) and Nick Kohn (285) each came in fifth after posting 2-2 records. Gage Timm (195) went 1-3 to take sixth.

Damien Wudtke was the other Shawano wrestler competing. He went 0-2 and didn't place in the 113 weight class.
