Proceedings of Nov. 22

• Tanner Michael Johnson, 25, Suamico, was placed on three years of probation beginning with one year in the county jail after a prison sentence was imposed and stayed for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (fourth offense), in connection with an incident that occurred Jan. 22. Judge Jay N. Conley ruled that among other probation conditions, Johnson must undergo an alcohol and other drug abuse assessment and follow through with recommended treatment or counseling, and also enter into, participate in and successfully complete any assessments, evaluations and/or treatment programs as directed by the Department of Corrections. Johnson was given credit for 46 days already served in jail.

• Steven Matthew Gustafson, 53, Menominee, Michigan, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to attempted battery or threat to a law officer and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Oct. 31. A pre-trial conference was scheduled for Dec. 15.

Proceedings of Nov. 21

• A three-day trial beginning May 31 was scheduled for Travis Michael Welch, 25, Shawano, who is charged with repeated sexual assault of the same child, in connection with incidents that allegedly occurred up to 2017. A final pre-trial conference was scheduled for May 17.

• Michael Andrew Jahnel, 59, Mountain, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (ninth offense) and misdemeanor operating while revoked, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Nov. 12. A further plea hearing was scheduled for Jan. 3.

• Austin J. Hoffman, 18, Suring, waived his to a preliminary hearing and was bound over on a charge of child abuse recklessly causing harm, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Oct. 7. Arraignment was scheduled for Dec. 15.

• Bond was set at $5,000 cash for Kayla H. Chevalier, 36, Oconto, after she was charged with burglary and misdemeanor theft, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Nov. 17, as well as misappropriating identity information to obtain money and misdemeanor bail jumping, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Oct. 23. Her initial appearance was adjourned until Dec. 15.

Proceedings of Nov. 18

• David W. Parmentier, 71, Suring, pleaded no contest to a charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, in connection with an incident that occurred June 27, 2019. A final pre-trial conference was set for Nov. 18. Brown County Judge Beau Liegios, who heard the case because the defendant is an Oconto County Board supervisor, assessed fines and court costs of $389.50. A related felony charge was dismissed in a plea agreement, and a Nov. 30 jury trial was canceled.
