NEW Media Inc. has hired a new reporter to cover Shawano County news and events.

Luke Reimer, 22, graduated from West De Pere High School in 2016 and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, earning a bachelor’s degree in media studies with a minor in professional and organizational communication. In college, Reimer contributed to the student news network, where he worked as an on-air reporter and behind the camera.

He is a contributor to Flurry Sports, a sports website based out of Eau Claire, writing about professional and collegiate sports — including the NFL, NBA, MLB and NCAA basketball.

“We think Luke is an ideal fit for NEW Media as we grow our online presence with a commitment to the news of Shawano, Menominee and Oconto counties,” said Warren Bluhm, interim editor-in-chief. “His writing and digital experience is invaluable.”

Outside of writing, Reimer spends his time watching sports, most notably the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers. Reimer also enjoys spending time outside, fishing, hiking and boating at his family’s cottages in the Oconto area and in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

“I’m excited to have a chance to write in Northeast Wisconsin, where I was born and raised,” Reimer said.

NEW Media Inc. is the home base of newmedia-wi.com and publishes the Shawano Leader, Oconto County Times Herald and Wittenberg Enterprise and Birnamwood News.
