Merlin ‘Manny’ Petrich

Merlin H. “Manny” Petrich, 93, of Gillett, passed away on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at St. Claire’s Hospital in Oconto Falls. Merlin was born on Aug. 29, 1926, in Gresham, to the late Jule and Meta (Duwe) Petrich. On Nov. 12, 1982, Manny was united in marriage to Patricia Eland in Menominee, Michigan.

For many years he was a truck driver before working on the family dairy farm in the town of Red Springs. Manny retired from the family farm in 2010. He enjoyed going bowling and playing shuffleboard.

Manny is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pat; his stepchildren, Clifford (Mary Ann) Greenwood, Michael (Sue) Greenwood, Tom (Wendy) Greenwood, Tina Bunting, Cindy (Vernon) Fry and John (Lori) Greenwood; one step-daughter-in-law, Mary Greenwood; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one sister, Darlene Reif; and two brothers, Floyd (Rosemary) Petrich and Leon Petrich. He is further survived by other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepson, Howard Greenwood Jr.; five sisters; and one brother.

A funeral service for Manny was held at 1 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham with the Rev. Piet VanKampen officiating. Burial was in Gresham Public Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
