Man arrested after woman stabbed in attempted robbery

A man is in custody with a recommendation for attempted first-degree homicide charges after Shawano police officers responded to a robbery in progress on Jan. 18.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Robin Lane at 3:55 a.m. and discovered a broken window, according to Capt. Shane Stange. The man was taken into custody after officers entered the home.

A woman was in the home with several stab wounds. Officers applied a tourniquet and pressure bandages, and she was transported to ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano. Stange noted that officers are trained in tactical medicine and carry equipment in case they come across anyone who is injured.

No further information on the woman’s condition was available.

Children were on the scene and unharmed, according to Stange.

The investigation is still active, Stange said.
