Linda L. Schmidt

Linda L. (Van Lanen) Schmidt, 72, was called to heaven on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, with family by her side. Linda was born March 2, 1949, to the late Merlin VanLanen and Priscilla “Percy” Van Lanen Knaub. On Sept. 14, 1968, Linda married Randall Schmidt.

They raised their two children in Green Bay and then moved to Lakewood. In 1990, they took over ownership and operated the Lakewood Hotel and Bar for over 20 years. Linda obtained her firefighter certification and joined the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department in 2002, along with her son and husband. Linda enjoyed family fishing trips to Canada, reading, Packers games, baking, camping and every moment with her grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her husband, Randy; her daughter, Tammy Steitzer; son, Tim Schmidt and fiancée, Dawn; three grandchildren, Jordan Lynn, Brandon James and Amber Marie; brother, Mike (Kathy) Van Lanen. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other close family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Fred Knaub; sister, Kathy “Gomer” Wichman; niece, Robyn Van Lanen Saindon.
