Linda J. Regal

Linda Jean Regal, 61, went to be with Jesus, peacefully in her sleep, on Sept. 25, 2022. Linda was the oldest daughter of Art and Jean Regal of Suring. She was born Feb. 10, 1961, at Oconto Falls Hospital. Linda was born three months premature and was so tiny she fit in the palm of her father’s hand. She weighed 3 pounds, 3 ounces.

Linda was born with cerebral palsy, and was confined to a wheelchair her entire life. Linda beat all odds of living as her parents were told she would not survive, and would not have a fulfilling quality of life. As you continue to read, you will see she proved the world wrong.

For Linda’s first 16 years of her life, her mom, Jean Regal, lovingly and patiently cared for all her needs from dressing to bathing to feeding until it became too difficult for her to do so when Linda became too heavy to lift. Linda even came out to the barn when mom was milking cows and stayed with her while the farm chores were being done. It is there that she developed her love for animals as well as her love of family.

Linda lived in a number of “homes” or adult care facilities through her years and was always well taken care of by her caregivers. She received excellent care from San Luis Manor, Cottonwood and, most recently, Bufflehead, all Green Bay facilities. Linda looked forward to attending school at Chippewa Falls, Howe School and Syble Hopp School through her schooling years. She made friends quickly because of her happy personality and her constant smile.

Linda also loved to attend Curative Workshop and the CP Center, where she participated in an array of activities from swimming to bowling. She was very excited when she was part of the CP telethon with some of her friends. Linda looked forward to her sister, Laura, visiting as Laura helped her throughout her adult years while living in the adult care facilities. Laura brought her family pictures that she proudly displayed on her wheelchair tray and small gifts that Linda truly enjoyed. She also always made arrangements for Linda to be at family gatherings whenever possible.

Linda has always enjoyed listening to music, watching movies and she adored her stuffed animals and baby dolls. She loved visiting with people throughout the facilities she lived in and this became much easier when she became very adept at using her new electric wheelchair.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude for the hard work and dedication of all the caregivers over Linda’s time on Earth, immensely enriching her quality of life. A special thank you to Malcore Funeral Home for assisting Linda’s family with funeral arrangements.

Linda is survived by her dad, Art Regal; her siblings, Laura Phillips, Gary and Amy Regal, Martin and Kathy Runge, Greg Regal and Brian and Amy Regal; her sister-in-law, Deb Regal. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

Linda is joining her mom, Jean Regal and her grandparents in heaven.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at Maple Valley Community Church in Suring on Oct. 11, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
