LETTER: Men without morals denigrate Christians

To the editor:

God is not governed by mankind’s propositions. Therefore what men and women think about the mind of God has no place in secular politics. To believe that we know what God thinks is the height of hubris, the pinnacle of pride.

There are many in this community and in this nation that irrationally superimpose their feelings on abortion upon their feelings on politics. Consequently, they will demonize a solid and good Catholic Christian who rightly separates his personal spiritual beliefs from his secular responsibility to govern our nation.

At the same time, these same folks will sanctify the former leader who claims to be a pro-lifer when in reality, he embodies the banal nature of a secular satan. It becomes OK in their minds that he denigrates all those who are not loyal and continues to demonstrate his amoral nature simply by telling the pompously pious what they want to hear.

For me, it is quite ironic that the same folks that profess such a sacred regard for human life before birth will immediately turn on those who have a child with no means to care for that child. These same people then will complain about the welfare state and the fact that they are called upon to support said people.

Then there is the Catholic church. Many in leadership are calling for the administration of the sacrament of the Eucharist to be withheld from President Joe Biden because he correctly does not believe that it is the government’s responsibility to manage reproductive capacity. At the same time, this same institution has systematically covered up the sexual abuses of the clergy despite its assertions to the contrary.

Consider the recently launched investigation announced by Wisconsin’s Department of Justice. Respect for life to be valid must extend to the church’s cleansing first before imposing its man-made views on the definition of life’s beginning.

Certainly, it needs to stay out of politics. By its very construction, our Constitution is a secular document. No mention of God or a creator is mentioned and that was by design. The United States was formed as a republic, not a theocracy.

It is time to realize that continuing to honor a man with no ethical foundation such as our former president and his sycophants is to dishonor the central message of Christianity. “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”
