LETTER: Don’t believe Dems’ version of riot narrative

To the editor:

Speeches by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris blame Donald Trump for coordinating the events of Jan. 6, 2021. Harris went so far as to compare Jan. 6 to Dec. 7, 1941, and Sept. 11, 2001. Certainly, bad events in American history, but Pearl Harbor and the Twin Towers united America. Why, because Americans felt that we were attacked. Jan. 6 is similar to the Biden administration in the fact that it did not unite America in a common belief.

It started with the rally where Trump encouraged rally goers (go to the capital and peacefully gather and protest). Ending badly, one person was killed by a capitol police officer (Ashli Babbitt).

Lots of false information is out there. The Democrats are running what media headlines claim is an investigation. The first day of the committee, a well-known Democrat Congressman, Adam Schiff, read a statement, which was a lie, and that set the tone and course of this investigation.

Emotions ran high Jan. 6. Several people from Shawano County attended the event and reported no violence, but we know violence did occur. Do you have confidence this Democrat-led investigation is searching for the truth?

I do not condone the violence that occurred. I want those who broke the law prosecuted. What about people like Nancy Pelosi, who had responsibilities? Did they do their jobs?

With that said, I doubt true Trump rally attendees committed these acts. I have attended nine Trump rallies. Each was orderly, peaceful, and was family and child-friendly because lots of children were always present.

Was there a riot? Was there violence? Were laws broken? Did people who had responsibility for capital security fail? Yes, to all.

Do I believe this Democratic-led investigation is designed to fit a narrative? Do I see similarities between this and the Russia collusion, Ukraine investigation? Was the Russia collusion supported by the media? Was the Ukraine and resulting impeachment supported by the media? Is this investigation supported by the media? Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.

In combat, the first reports of enemy contact are greatly exaggerated. Think back on some of the initial reports as facts now disproved. One example is that a police officer was bludgeoned to death by the rioters with a fire extinguisher. That lie lasted for several weeks but no evidence of an armed insurrection.

I do not condone violence, and I want lawbreakers prosecuted. Never forget our First Amendment has five basic rights and one is the right of the people to peaceably assemble.
