LETTER: Better to be cautious than allow tragedy

To the editor:

No good deed goes unpunished.

Recently I saw a man slumped over the steering wheel on the side of the road. I stopped to ask if he was OK. He got angry and told me to mind my own business.

Last summer, I saw a woman in a car following a boy on a bike and talking to him. I followed her and called the police — I thought this may be a child abduction. Turns out the woman was the child’s mother. She came over to my truck yelling at me to mind my own business.

Don’t these people realize that if indeed these were the “worst case scenarios” rather than not, a tragedy could have been avoided?
