Third annual Dirt City Duel at Motorplex

Off-road racing fans and drivers from all over the nation will come together in Oconto County starting July 31 for the third annual Dirt City Duel weekend at the Dirt City Motorplex racetrack in Lena. The event is part of the new, innovative short-course racing series — the Amsoil Championship Off-Road.

“The Dirt City Duel has quickly become a favorite summer celebration for Oconto County,” said Samantha Boucher, tourism manager, Oconto County Economic Development Corp. “The 2021 event promises to be the most exciting one yet, showcasing the best in short-course off-road racing, with an array of drivers in specially modified vehicles competing for glory.”

Opened in 2019, the Dirt City Motorplex is a motorsports facility featuring a one-mile-long, short-course off-road track, designed in consultation with several drivers — including Johnny Greaves, a veteran champion driver from the area. Dirt City’s natural viewing area holds up to 10,000 spectators, and the course allows vehicles to fly high in front of the crowd. Races include Pro4, Pro2, Pro Lite, Sportsman and SxS (Side-by-Side) competitions.

The action for this year’s Dirt City Duel begins Saturday morning. For those not able to attend in person, races will be livestreamed throughout the weekend.

Dirt City is family-friendly and offers off- and on-site camping right outside the racer pit area for those who want to make a weekend of it. In addition to campsites amenities, the Dirt City Motorplex complex also features a gas station, LP gas, race fuel, Bumper to Bumper Auto & Race Parts Store and The Dairy Barn Restaurant. Spectators are asked to bring their own chairs for seating. Concessions will be available, and no carry-ins are allowed.
