James Christman

James (Coach) Christman passed away on July 16, 2021. James, along with his twin sister, Jane, was born July 8, 1942, in Logan County, near Napoleon, North Dakota, to the late Edwin and Esther Becker Christman. Jim graduated from Napoleon High School in 1960 and from Valley City State University in North Dakota in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in education. He received a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota, in 1984.

Jim was a teacher, coach, and guidance counselor for nearly 40 years in several schools in Wisconsin including Hawkins, Ladysmith, Laona, and Bonduel, and in Conde, Melette, and Aberdeen, South Dakota.

He enjoyed all sports, enjoyed coaching, especially football. His players, opposing coaches and a few referees will tell you he was quite competitive and enjoyed a great deal of success along the way.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughters, Tracy Lee Christman (Joe Montez) and Kimberly Marie Carlson; two grandchildren, Zachary James and Jena Rose Sturm; his sister, Mary Ann, and brother-in-law, Rich Phelps; a niece, Robin Sande and family; Donna’s brothers, Greg (Pam), Don, Jason, Ed (Linda) and sister, Susan (John), along with her nieces and nephews Lindsay, Megan, Brittany, Cortney, Allyson, Daisy, Travis, Taylor, Jonathan and Trevor.

Jim was preceded in death by his twin sister, Jane; brother, Stanley; brother-in-law, Mickey McGlynn; parents, Edwin and Esther; and in-laws, Bud and Freida Britten.

Special thanks goes to Dr. Michael Volk and the doctors and nurses at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

Thank you, God, for giving Jim an unbelievable life that he enjoyed and appreciated.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held from 1-4 p.m. July 31, 2021, at the Lumberyard in Bonduel.
