GIRLS GOLF

Shawano 1st at Bay meet

Shawano posted a team score of 190 to edge Xavier by a shot at a Bay Conference meet on Sept. 9 at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

Sophia Eggert led the way for Shawano with a nine-hole round of 40 to finish as the medalist.

Teghan Kristof (47), Riley Dreier (50), Braylyn Babino (53) and Alli Johnson (61) capped the Hawks’ five-golfer team.

Bonduel also competed at the meet, placing sixth with a score of 213.

VOLLEYBALL

Shawano 3

Green Bay West 0

Shawano opened Bay Conference action up with a sweep of Green Bay West on Sept. 9 in Shawano. The Hawks won by scores of 25-8, 25-10, 25-11.

Emma James had eight assists for Shawano. Brooke Theis led the team with six kills, while Abby Bystol had five.

Suring earns 2 wins

Suring defeated Oneida Nation 25-23, 26-24, 25-15 and Lena 25-7, 20-25, 25-20, 25-21 during a triangular on Sept. 9 in Suring.

Christine Sleeter finished the night with 19 total kills, five aces and seven assists to lead Suring. Bailey Stuart tallied 10 attack kills, five digs and four aces, while MaKenzie Chesterfield had nine attack kills, seven digs and four aces.

Kate Mahoney served nine aces and led the team with 28 assists over the two matches. Emma Kristoff recorded six digs, while Trinity Remic had five. Macie Reed and Macyn Garrigan chipped in five attack kills each.

Rosholt 3

Tigerton 0

Tigerton fell short in a Central Wisconsin Conference crossover match on Sept. 9 in Rosholt, losing by scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-22.

Elizabeth Robbins finished the match with 13 service points and eight assists for Tigerton, while Skyler Hauser tallied 19 digs and six kills.

Abby Swartz led the Tigers with 22 digs and added three kills. Jaycee Hoppe-Schmidt posted 21 digs, Bethany Jobe totaled five kills and Mary Kreklow had four assists.

Lux-Casco 3

Oconto Falls 0

Oconto Falls was swept by scores of 25-14, 25-7, 25-22 in a North Eastern Conference match against Luxemburg-Casco on Sept. 9 in Oconto Falls.

Emmie Magnin tallied six attack kills for Oconto Falls, while Brailyn St. Louis had four. Hailey Peitersen and Quinn Eisch posted five digs each.

Peitersen also led the Panthers with 14 assists.

GIRLS SWIM

Witt-Birn 106

Marinette 63

Wittenberg-Birnamwood won eight of 11 events to ease past Marinette in a Bay Conference dual on Sept. 9 in Wittenberg.

Witt-Birn's Olyvia Stark, Isabella Hegewald, Faith Resch and Annika Resch opened the night with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:03.83. Stark, Faith Resch and Annika Resch joined Olivia Bessette on the top-finishing 400 freestyle relay (4:14.04) to end the night.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Bessette, Ava Hegewald, Isabella Hegewald and Jessica Storlie grabbed first in 2:00.48.

Individually, Faith Resch claimed first in the 100 butterfly (1:07.08) and 100 backstroke (1:05.8), while Annika Resch was first in the 50 freestyle (27.82) and 100 freestyle (1:03.36). Stark won the 200 freestyle (2:05.61) and Isabella Hegewald took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.49).

Shawano fell short in a Bay Conference match against New London on Sept. 9 in Shawano.

Jenna Ainsworth (No. 2) and Adison Moesch (No. 3) picked up singles wins for Shawano. The No. 1 doubles team of Kate Williams and Nicole Piantek also was victorious.
