Gresham goes 2-1 at home tournament

Gresham earned a pair of wins while playing at the Wildcat Kickoff Tournament in Gresham on Saturday.

Gresham opened the day with a 25-9, 25-8, 25-10 win over Bowler. Karisa Nietzer had 15 kills to lead the Wildcats, while Kalayla Tucker had nine digs. Valarie Cerveny finished with 14 service points, while Hannah Cerveny had 13.

Gresham then topped Elcho 25-20, 25-14, 25-15. Valarie Cerveny totaled 11 kills, 13 service points and six digs, while Nietzer had six kills.

The Wildcats fell short in their final match of the day, losing 25-18, 25-17, 25-20 against Sevastopol. Nietzer had 12 kills, while Hannah Cerveny tallied nine assists. Brooklyn Hoffman and Makayla Belongia each had seven digs.

BOYS SOCCER

Shawano goes 0-2 at tournament

Shawano suffered a pair of setbacks at a tournament in Mosinee on Saturday. The Hawks dropped a tight 3-2 match with Northland Pines before a 5-1 setback against Mosinee.

Michael Klement finished with two of Shawano's goals on the day, with Lucas te Plate posting the other.

JJ Pyatskowit made 14 saves while defending the goal, while Kaden Cox made three saves in his time as goalie.
