BOYS SOCCER

Seymour 12

Shawano 2

Despite a fast start, Shawano was unable to keep pace with Seymour in a Bay Conference match in Shawano on Tuesday.

Michael Klement’s hustle led to a Shawano goal less than two minutes into the contest, but Seymour had an answer and soon had the lead.

Chris Etori netted Shawano’s second goal in the 37th minute, with Klement assisting on the score.

JJ Pyatskowit and Kaden Cox each spent time defending the net for the Hawks, combing for 18 saves.

VOLLEYBALL

Rosholt 3

Gresham 2

Gresham fell short in a Central Wisconsin Conference crossover road clash against Rosholt on Tuesday. Rosholt won in five sets, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18, 8-25, 15-9.

Karisa Nietzer totaled 19 kills and 17 service points for Gresham in the contest, while Valarie Cerveny had 13 kills and four blocks. Brooklyn Hoffman tallied 19 assists and Jayden Jensen posted 18 digs.

"We lost a very tough match tonight, but our girls showed improvement as the night went on," said Gresham coach Tim Wild. "We found ourselves in some big deficits early in most of our sets, but that didn't stop our girls from working hard to get back into those sets."

"In set one, we trailed 11-18, but came back to lose a close 23-25 set. In set two, we fell behind 1-8 and 9-16 before coming back to win the set 25-23. I'm proud of the way the girls kept working tonight and never gave up when they had their backs against the wall. We need to work on preventing our opponents from going on big runs as we move forward."
