Marinette 1

Shawano cruised to a home win over Marinette on Thursday, which also served as Shawano’s senior day. Isabella Buettner, Lydia Dobberstein, Alana Krolow, Peyton Buerman, Analyse Wilber, Chloe Krueger and Haley Williams were honored.

Buettner (No. 1), Anna Cuenca (No. 2), Buerman (No. 3) and Rylie Anderson (No. 4) all earned singles wins. Dobberstein teamed up with Grace Licausi for a win at No. 1 doubles, while Krueger and Williams won at No. 2 doubles.

Shawano 2

Shawano and Clintonville settled for a tie in a nonconference match in Clintonville on Thursday.

Shawano’s Chris Etori scored a goal and assisted on Owen Moesch’s goal. Goalie J.J. Pyatskowit made seven saves.

VOLLEYBALL

Witt-Birn 3

Menominee Indian 0

Wittenberg-Birnamwood swept Menominee Indian in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division match in Wittenberg on Thursday. The Chargers, who were celebrating senior night, won by scores of 25-17, 25-11, 25-12 to improve to 4-0 in conference play.

Abi Fraaza led Witt-Birn with 18 total kills, while McKenna Metropulos had 26 assists. McKenna Foster contributed eight digs.

“It is always good to have a solid win on senior night and that is exactly what we had, a good conference win in three,” said Witt-Birn coach Becky Rew. “We played well and have a weekend off to relax before a big triangular at Pacelli.”

Gresham 3

Tigerton 0

Gresham took down Tigerton in a CWC-North match in Gresham on Thursday. The Wildcats won by scores of 25-15, 25-18, 25-20.

Kalayla Tucker finished with 17 digs, while Karisa Nietzer had 13 kills and 14 service points. Brooklyn Hoffman tallied 13 assists and 14 service points, Hannah Cerveny contributed 13 assists and Valarie Cerveny had eight kills.

Savannah Swartz posted 10 total kills and six digs for Tigerton, while Ladia Block had 10 digs. Abby Swartz and Skyler Hauser each tallied seven digs, Adrienne Brady had nine assists and Elizabeth Robbins totaled six service points and five assists.

Manawa 3

Bowler

Bowler was swept by Manawa in a CWC-North clash in Manawa on Thursday. Manawa won by scores of 25-16, 25-23, 25-14.

Kayla Pecore led Bowler with 12 total kills, while Ireland DeRoos had six. Brooke Thiex tallied 12 assists and six digs.

Alyssa Strassburg had seven assists and five digs. Tynea Johnson finished with 10 digs.

Weyauwega-Fremont 3

Bonduel 1

Bonduel dropped a tight CWC-East road match to Weyauwega-Fremont on Thursday. Weyauwega-Fremont won by scores of 24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

Bonduel's Josie Hoffman totaled 14 total kills and 17 digs, while Allaina Robaidek had 13 total kills, 10 digs and 10 assists. Kylie Hoffman tallied seven attack kills and six digs.

Macy Niles contributed 24 digs for the Bears, Halea Sporisky added 13 assists and Brenna Hertzfeldt had 15 digs and seven attack kills.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Witt-Birn boys take third at invitational

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood boys team earned a team score of 53 to take third at the Spencer Invitational at Frey Field on Thursday.

Cole Schairer won the boys race with a time of 17 minutes, 53 seconds to lead the Witt-Birn boys. Simon Schairer (18:52) came in sixth, while Ian Resch (19:39), Craig Wendel (19:56) and Wyatt Dickman (19:57) placed 14th, 17th and 18th, respectively, to round out the team’s top-five runners.

Four Witt-Birn girls competed at the invitational, with Jenna Stone’s second-place finish in 22:07 leading the way. Ruby Nowinsky (22:44), Annika Resch (23:01) and Lauren Dombeck (24:36) took seventh, eighth and 20th, respectively.
