FOOTBALL

Lena/STAA 45

Sevastopol 6

Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy improved to 5-0 after routing Sevastopol in a MONLPC-East Division 8-player matchup on Sept. 25 in Sturgeon Bay. The co-op is 2-0 in conference play.

Sam Marquardt accounted for three touchdowns to lead Lena/STAA. He rushed for 130 yards and a score while throwing for 92 yards and touchdowns to Logan Shallow and Lane Whiting.

Whiting also tallied 48 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Shallow had 88 rushing yards and another touchdown. Lena/STAA rushed for 307 yards as a team.

The co-op held Sevastopol to 149 total yards of offense while racking up 399 yards when it had the ball.

Port Edwards 34

Marion/Tigerton 12

Marion/Tigerton couldn’t keep up with Port Edwards in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division 8-player clash on Sept. 25 in Tigerton. Marion/Tigerton is now 1-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Nick Malueg gave the co-op a 6-0 lead after a 57-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but Port Edwards scored 34 unanswered points to end the half.

Alex Zimmerman ran for a 24-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for Marion/Tigerton’s second score.

Malueg had 85 rushing yards, while Zimmerman tallied 49. Asher Michaelis led the co-op with seven tackles, including a sack and two tackles for losses. Preston Szczerbak posted two sacks, and Isaiah Gueths intercepted a pass.

Xavier 27

Shawano 20

Shawano was unable to hold on to a fourth-quarter lead in a Bay Conference loss to Xavier on Sept. 25 in Shawano.

Ashton Henning caught two touchdown passes from Carson Popp. Jacob Polzin caught another touchdown pass from Popp.

Xavier scored 20 unanswered points in the final quarter after Shawano grabbed a 20-7 lead.

Shawano is now 2-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

VOLLEYBALL

Oconto Falls goes 2-3 at invite

Oconto Falls earned wins over Sheboygan Falls (25-17, 25-22) and Marinette (25-12, 25-14) while losing to Oconto (25-19, 25-23), Green Bay Southwest (27-29, 25-18, 15-11) and West De Pere (25-20, 25-17) to take fourth at the West De Pere Invite on Sept. 25 in De Pere.

Emmie Magnin and Grace Oninski posted eight and seven attack kills, respectively, in Oconto Falls' win over Sheboygan Falls. Hanna Krejcarek posted a team-leading eight digs, while Hailey Peitersen tallied 20 assists. Peitersen had 19 assists in the loss to Oconto, while Quinn Eisch tallied eight digs and Magnin led the team with eight attack kills.

In the loss to Green Bay Southwest, Eisch finished with 13 digs. Peitersen totaled 15 assists and Oninski and Magnin had six attack kills each. Tess Maggio led the Panthers with four attack kills against Marinette, while Peitersen and Magnin had three total blocks each. Peitersen also posted 12 assists and seven digs.

In the setback to West De Pere, Peitersen led the Panthers with 18 assists and eight digs. Magnin had seven attack kills, while Oninski added five.
