Witt-Birn 3

Bonduel 1

Wittenberg-Birnamwood seized control early and went to claim a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division win over Bonduel on Thursday in Wittenberg. The Chargers won by scores of 25-10, 25-21, 24-26, 25-19.

Witt-Birn used a balanced attack to get the job done, with Abi Fraaza tallying 20 total kills to lead the team. Kaitlyn Clark and Marissa Groshek each had 13 kills.

McKenna Metropulos finished with 40 assists and Elizabeth Muscha had 16 digs. Reese Rogowski had three block kills for the Chargers.

Josie Hoffman posted 11 total kills and five digs for Bonduel in the loss, while Allaina Robaidek had six total kills and seven assists.

Kylie Hoffman tallied 12 digs and seven total kills for the Bears. Brenna Hertzfeldt had four attack kills and five digs, while Halea Sporisky tallied six assists and three attack kills.

Gresham 3

Wisconsin Valley Lutheran 0

Gresham improved to 2-0 in the CWC-North by sweeping Wisconsin Valley Lutheran in Gresham on Thursday. Gresham won by scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-17.

Karisa Nietzer finished with 19 kills, 16 service points and five aces to lead Gresham, while Brooklyn Hoffman had 10 assists and 17 digs. Makayla Belongia tallied 18 digs and five kills and Hannah Cerveny had 10 assists.

“We found ourselves behind early in each set, but found a way to climb back into each set and come out on top,” said Gresham coach Tim Wild. “Karisa Nietzer had a huge game for us tonight. Between her 19 kills and 16 service points, she got us a lot of points. It seemed like each time we needed a big play she stepped up and made one for us.

Our team did a good job of passing and setting her up as well. I’m really proud of the way our team played this week in our first two conference matches.”

Clintonville 3

Marinette 0

Clintonville cruised to a North Eastern Conference home victory over Marinette on Thursday, winning by scores of 25-9, 25-6, 25-2.

Lindsy Carpenter finished the match with 25 assists, five aces and three digs, while Jordan Lehman had 14 total kills. Josie Colla finished with six total kills.

Autumn Steede tallied five attack kills for Clintonville, while Abby King posted four digs and three aces.

Bowler 3

Tigerton 1

Bowler won the final two sets to take down Tigerton in a CWC-North match on Thursday in Bowler. The Panthers won by scores of 25-15, 19-25, 25-14, 25-15.

Kayla Pecore finished with 11 kills and eight digs to lead Bowler, while Ireland DeRoos had four kills and four digs. Brooke Thiex posted 15 assists and three kills, while Alyssa Strassburg had five assists, five digs and three kills.

Colleen Smith led Tigerton with six kills, while Savannah Swartz finished with 15 service points, four aces and 12 digs. Ladia Block had 17 digs, Adrienne Brady totaled nine digs and seven assists and Abby Swartz had 10 digs.


Witt-Birn 84

Marinette 60

Wittenberg-Birnamwood took down Marinette in a Bay Conference dual in Wittenberg on Thursday.

The Chargers earned four first-place finishers on the night. Alexa Chaney won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 24.94 seconds, Lauren Bahr finished first in the 50 freestyle (27.61) and Christina Thrun was the top finisher in the 500 freestyle (6:33.59).

The 200 freestyle relay team of Bahr, Thrun, Chaney and Annika Resch also took first in 1:54.87.


Shawano takes second at conference meet

Taylor Johnson carded a nine-hole round of 47, while Kiley Rusch posted a 48 to lead Shawano to a second-place finish at a Bay Conference Meet at Ridgeway Golf Course in Neenah on Thursday. Shawano had a team score of 198, behind only Xavier (196).

Shawano’s other three golfers weren’t far behind Johnson and Rusch, as Macie Herm (51), Emily Heling (52) and Georgia Eggert (54) rounded out the five-golfer team.

Bonduel had four golfers competing, finishing with a team score of 242. Ava Pleshek (57) and Taylor Luepke (58) led the way, while Sydney Luepke (62) and Thea Tauchen (65) rounded out the team.
