BOYS SOCCER

Shawano 4

Mosinee 3

Fifth-seeded Shawano upset fourth-seeded Mosinee in a Division 3 regional semifinal in Mosinee on Thursday.

Michael Klement scored two goals and was credited with an assist to lead Shawano. Chris Etori and Owen Moesch each added a goal, while Lance Huebner had an assist.

JJ Pyatskowit made seven saves while defending the net for the Hawks.

Shawano will play at top-seeded Waupaca in a regional final on Saturday.

Gresham/Bowler 5

Nekoosa 3

Third-seeded Gresham/Bowler knocked off sixth-seeded Nekoosa in a Division 4 regional semifinal in Gresham on Thursday.

The co-op will travel to take on second-seeded Columbus Catholic in a regional final on Saturday.

St. Lawrence Seminary 1

Clintonville 0 (OT)

Eighth-seeded Clintonville was upset in overtime by ninth-seeded St. Lawrence Seminary in a Division 4 regional semifinal in Clintonville on Thursday. 

St. Lawrence Seminary will travel to take on top-seeded Oostburg in a regional final on Saturday.

Gresham 3

Suring 0

Top-seeded Gresham swept fifth-seeded Suring in a Division 4 regional semifinal in Gresham on Thursday. The Wildcats won by scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-21 and will host Bowler in a regional final on Saturday.

Karisa Nietzer finished with 21 attack kills and seven block kills to power Gresham. Hannah Cerveny and Brooklyn Hoffman set up the team’s attackers, tallying 14 and 12 assists, respectively. Valarie Cerveny totaled 20 service points and seven kills.

Bowler 3

Gillett 2

Second-seeded Bowler earned its spot in the regional final with a five-set win over third-seeded Gillett in Bowler on Thursday. Bowler won by scores of 21-25, 27-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Kayla Pecore led Bowler with 11 attack kills, 12 digs and five aces, while Brooke Thiex had 11 attack kills, 15 assists and seven digs. Alyssa Strassburg totaled 21 assists, 10 digs and five attack kills.

Bowler’s Tynea Johnson finished with 18 digs and six total kills, while Ireland DeRoos had 11 digs and nine total kills.

Denmark 3

Clintonville 0

Clintonville, a No. 10 seed, was swept by second-seeded Denmark in a Division 2 regional semifinal in Denmark on Thursday. Denmark won by scores of 25-8, 25-19, 25-20 and will host third-seeded Notre Dame in a regional final on Saturday.

Josie Colla led Clintonville with four total kills. Lindsy Carpenter finished with 11 digs and 10 assists, while Autumn Steede had five digs and Jordan Lehman tallied four digs.

St. Mary Catholic 3

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 0

Fifth-seeded Wittenberg-Birnamwood was swept by fourth-seeded St. Mary Catholic in a Division 3 regional semifinal in Neenah on Thursday.

SMC won by scores of 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 and will travel to take on top-seeded Oconto in a regional final on Saturday.

Abi Fraaza led Witt-Birn with 15 total kills, while Marissa Groshek had eight attack kills. McKenna Metropulos finished with 22 assists and Elizabeth Muscha had 30 digs.

“It was a hard-fought match,” said Witt-Birn coach Becky Rew. “The girls played hard and never gave up, but we just came a couple points short in each set. It was a great season and I will miss all five of the senior girls. They have put many years into the Witt-Birn volleyball program to help make it a great place to play.”
