GIRLS BASKETBALL

Shawano 36

Seymour 28

Shawano picked up a low-scoring win over Bay Conference foe Seymour on Jan. 5 in Seymour. The Hawks led 19-9 by halftime.

Leah Nordin scored 18 points for Shawano, while Ella Stuber added seven points.

Bonduel 69

Shiocton 39

Bonduel pulled away in the second half to earn a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division win over Shiocton on Jan. 5 in Bonduel. The Bears outscored the visitors 34-14 in the second half.

Ella Hischke and Hailey Zernicke each scored 13 points for Bonduel. Audrey Weier added 12 points.

Zernicke posted a double-double after also grabbing 10 rebounds. Hailee Thompson contributed seven assists and five steals, while Hischke had six assists. Weier blocked four shots.

Witt-Birn 70

Manawa 46

Wittenberg-Birnamwood rolled to a CWC-East win over Manawa on Jan. 5 in Manawa.

Reese Rogowski continued her big senior season for Witt-Birn by tallying 25 points, nine rebounds, five steals, eight assists and three blocks.

Rory Salvesen added 21 points, five steals and three assists, while Melaina Granquist had 10 points and 11 boards.

Allison Linke and Faith Resch each chipped in six points, with Resch also posting six steals and four assists. Jami Wendler had three steals for the Chargers.

Coleman 61

Suring 54

Suring fell short in a Marinette & Oconto Conference clash with Coleman on Jan. 5 in Suring. The Eagles were outscored by 11 in the second half.

Christine Sleeter tallied 17 points, nine rebounds and four blocks for Suring, while Bunny Cramer had 15 points, three assists and four steals.

Mackenzie Bailey recorded 12 points, 13 rebounds and four assists for the Eagles. Macie Reed chipped in six points and five assists. Emma Kristof had three steals.

Northland Lutheran 64

Tigerton 13

Tigerton fell to Northland Lutheran in a CWC-North matchup on Jan. 5 in Kronenwetter.

Grace Laatsch scored six points for Tigerton. Abby Swartz pulled down eight rebounds.

Shawano 52

West De Pere 27

Shawano earned a Bay Conference win over West De Pere on Jan. 5 in Shawano.

Shawano’s Caden Young earned his 100th high school win with a 16-7 major decision victory at 170 pounds.

Kody Popelka (132), Mason Theis (195), Wahkeenyah Waukau (220) and Brady Jones (285) all won by pin for the Hawks.

Dylan Gartner (106), Drake Herm (138), Carsen Herm (152) and Conner Chelberg (182) all won by forfeit for Shawano.

Witt-Birn 2-0 at CWC duals

Wittenberg-Birnamwood picked up 78-6 conference wins over Manawa and Menominee Indian on Jan. 5 in Weyauwega.

Against Manawa, David Gauderman (285) and Ben Miller (113) had the team's only non-forfeit wins, pinning their opponents. Luca Pelusi (132), Andres Sanchez (138), Nico Pelusi (145), Chase Kitsemble (152), Coye Brillowski (160), Owen Schultz (170), Bryson Schmid (182), Nathan Waupekenay (195), Dominic Weso (220), Treyton Bierman (106) and Devin Wudtke (126) earned forfeit wins for the Chargers.

Sanchez (138), Nico Pelusi (145), Kitsemble (152), Schmid (182), Weso (220), Gauderman (285) and Wudtke (126) all won by pin against Menominee Indian. Brillowski (160), Schultz (170), Waupekenay (195), Miller (113), Easton Davis (120) and Luca Pelusi (132) all won by forfeit.

Eagles finish 0-2 at conference duals

Menominee Indian fell 72-6 to Weyauwega-Fremont along with its 78-6 loss to Witt-Birn on Jan. 7 in Weyauwega.

Alex Cloud picked up a forfeit win at 126 pounds in the Eagles' loss to Weyauwega-Fremont. Michael Peters had a pin at 106 pounds for Menominee Indian's lone win over Witt-Birn.

Antigo dropped a Great Northern Conference clash against Northland Pines in overtime on Jan. 5 in Antigo.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood's Owen Dickman, who plays for Antigo, scored a goal and assisted on two other scores.
