GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 89

Abbotsford 19

Wittenberg-Birnamwood dominated Abbotsford from start to finish in a nonconference matchup on Friday in Wittenberg. The Chargers led 62-7 at halftime and converted 34 free throws in the game.

Emma Herb finished with 24 points and seven rebounds to lead Witt-Birn. Abi Fraaza added 17 points and four assists, while Olivia Curley had 16 points, three steals and five assists.

Kaylee Schram posted 10 points and five rebounds for the Chargers. Amara Schoepke grabbed five boards and chipped in eight points, while Reese Rogowski contributed seven points, six assists and four steals.

"Coming off a long break, it was nice to get back into action," said Witt-Birn coach Nick Mechelke. "We played a nice team game tonight and we shared the ball well. I was very pleased how we played defense tonight. We needed to play well to get ready for Amherst on Tuesday."

Freedom 71

Clintonville 32

Clintonville couldn't slow down Freedom in a North Eastern Conference clash in Clintonville on Friday.

Elly Arndt scored 13 points to lead Clintonville on the offensive end. Erin Viergutz added six points and grabbed nine rebounds.

"I don't feel the score reflects how hard of an effort the girls gave tonight," said Clintonville coach Nick Yaeger. "Freedom is a dang good team. They will capitalize on all your mistakes."

BOYS BASKETBALL

Clintonville 59

Bonduel 44

Clintonville built a 10-point halftime lead and went on to earn a nonconference win over Bonduel on Friday in Bonduel. The Truckers led 29-19 at the break.

Aiden Polzin hit five 3-pointers and scored 27 points to lead Clintonville on the court. Cameron Mauel added 12 points, while Cole Rosenow and Nathan Morse chipped in six each.

Cole Letter scored 19 points to pace Bonduel. Noah Beilfuss was the only other Bear over five points, recording six on a pair of triples.

Rosholt 57

Gresham 48

Gresham couldn't hold an 11-point halftime lead in a Central Wisconsin Conference crossover battle on Friday in Rosholt. Gresham led 36-25 at halftime.

Waylon Welch and Will Jensen each scored 13 points for Gresham.

Raven Bennett and Lukas Pecore chipped in six points each for the Wildcats.
