Wittenberg-Birnamwood broke open a tight game with an 11-0 run in the second half before holding off Menominee Indian down the stretch of a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division game on Thursday in Wittenberg.

Brendan Resch led Witt-Birn on the offensive end, hitting four 3-pointers and tallying 21 points. Austin Gibson added 14 points, while Simon Stewart had 12. Logan Balliett chipped in nine points and Ben Wesolowski had seven.

Norman Kakwitch scored 20 points for Menominee Indian. Wendell Waukau and Andre Corn tallied 10 points each.

Witt-Birn hit 22-of-35 shots at the free-throw line, while Menominee Indian was 13-of-22.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bonduel 48

Peshtigo 26

Bonduel pulled away in the second half for a nonconference road win over Peshtigo on Thursday.

Kara Troxel scored 22 points and registered four steals for Bonduel. Allaina Robaidek had 12 points and six steals, while Kylie Hoffman totaled 10 rebounds and six points.

Bonduel outscored Peshtigo 25-9 in the second half.

“Our defensive effort was unbelievable,” said Bonduel coach Jerry Reinke. “We were able to score at the rim a little better in the second half.”
