GIRLS BASKETBALL

Clintonville 46

Fox Valley Lutheran 41

Clintonville held off Fox Valley Lutheran in a North Eastern Conference battle on Friday in Clintonville.

Erin Viergutz led Clintonville on offense with 19 points, while Elly Arndt provided 10 points. Viergutz also pulled down a team-leading 15 rebounds, while Jordan Lehman had 10.

"This is our 11th game of the year and it's actually the first one that was decided by less than 15 points. It's always good to come out on top in close games," said Clintonville coach Nick Yaeger. "We haven't been tested in close games and I knew it was a matter of time before it happened. Teams have to learn how to win these games. The girls fought hard. I felt that we matched every blow that Fox Valley Lutheran gave us."

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 47

Weyauwega-Fremont 33

Wittenberg-Birnamwood outscored Weyauwega-Fremont 33-15 in the first half and went on to claim a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division win on Friday in Weyauwega.

Emma Herb finished with 19 points and four steals to lead Witt-Birn on the court. Olivia Curley contributed 15 points and had five steals.

Abi Fraaza totaled nine points, 11 rebounds, five steals and three assists for the Chargers, while Reese Rogowski had five boards and three steals.

"Tonight was just one of those nights where we couldn't find any rhythm," said Witt-Birn coach Nick Mechelke. "I have to give credit to Wega, they played well tonight and converted from the outside. In the end, we found a way to close it out tonight."

Tigerton 36

Marion 17

Tigerton knocked off Marion in a CWC-North matchup on Friday in Marion.

Kyla Zillmer finished with seven points, seven rebounds and three steals to lead Marion. Kelsey Zillmer tallied five rebounds and three blocks, while Tessa Brei grabbed four boards.

"We had some great chances in the first half to keep the game close but couldn't close the deal on them," said Marion coach Brad Fischer. "Turnovers really hurt us in the game, especially when they turned into layups for Tigerton."
