BOYS BASKETBALL

Bonduel 67

Amherst 33

Bonduel rode its tough, aggressive defense to a lopsided Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division victory over Amherst on Tuesday in Bonduel.

Cole Letter scored 22 points to lead Bonduel on the offensive end, hitting three of the team’s eight 3-pointers. Carson Robaidek and Dylan Springborn chipped in 11 points each.

Bonduel, which made 15-of-16 shots at the free throw line, held Amherst to just 11 first-half points.

Gresham 73

Marion 36

Gresham eased past Marion in a CWC-North matchup on Tuesday in Gresham.

Raven Bennett hit five 3-pointers and led Gresham with 22 points. Jake Hoffman added 17 points, while Will Jensen provided 15. Lyle Welch and Lukas Pecore scored seven points each.

Pecore led the team with six rebounds, while Bennett had five assists.

Ethan Scheef paced Marion with 10 points, while Cody Clegg had nine.

Shawano 95

Green Bay West 70

Shawano rolled to a Bay Conference win over Green Bay West on Tuesday in Shawano.

Carter Weisnicht scored 33 points to power Shawano. Nick Sherman contributed 17 points.

Kaleb Lowney scored 13 points, while Elliott Lowney had 11 for the Hawks. Jayden VanOss tallied eight points, while Ethan Schwitzer had seven to round out a balanced attack.

Iola-Scandinavia 84

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 39

Wittenberg-Birnamwood couldn’t slow Iola-Scandinavia in a CWC-East matchup on Tuesday in Iola.

Jack Fraaza scored nine points to lead Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Brendan Resch chipped in six points.

WRESTLING

Bonduel goes 1-1 at double dual

Bonduel topped Lena (66-18) but fell short against Coleman (49-16) at a double dual on Tuesday in Coleman.

Tyson Bogacz (120), Luis Lagunes (126), Jayson Toellner (132), Logan Majewski (138), Max Sokolski (145), Jakob Froemming (152), Moises Lagunes (160), Kaden Bergsbaken (170), Tristan Tomashek (182), Alex Garside (195) and Isaac Banker (220) all earned wins by pin against Lena.

Banker earned a major decision win against Coleman, while Bogacz and Luis Lagunes each won decisions. Majewski won by forfeit.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 55

Iola-Scandinavia 30

Wittenberg-Birnamwood remained perfect on the season after taking down Iola-Scandinavia in a CWC-East battle on Tuesday in Wittenberg.

Emma Herb scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Witt-Birn, while Abi Fraaza totaled 15 points, 11 rebounds and three steals.

Kaylee Schram provided eight points, while Olivia Curley tallied six points and three steals for the Chargers.

“We came out a little sluggish on defense tonight — we just weren’t moving our feet,” said Witt-Birn coach Nick Mechelke. “Overall, we got got good minutes from everyone, especially Kaylee off the bench.”

Gresham 68

Marion 25

Gresham pulled away for a CWC-North win over Marion on Tuesday in Marion.

The Wildcats held the Mustangs to eight points in the second half.

Destiny Reindl hit five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points for Gresham. Makayla Belongia chipped in 16 points, while Hannah Cerveny added 14. Valarie Cerveny and Chloe Bohl scored eight points each.

Kelsey Zillmer totaled eight points, eight rebounds and four blocks for Marion, while Tessa Brei had six points and 10 rebounds.

Menominee Indian 63

Stockbridge 48

Menominee Indian picked up a nonconference win over Stockbridge on Tuesday in Keshena.

Mimi Beaulieu-Morgan scored 28 points for Menominee Indian, while Alyssa Corn and Mariah Fish tallied nine points each.

“We played very well in the first half. Our ball movement was very good and we shot the ball extremely well,” said Menominee Indian coach Michael Skenadore. “With a healthy lead, we were able to get all of our girls some playing time and that should help later in the season.”

Clintonville 62

Denmark 47

Clintonville bounced back from a loss on Monday with a convincing North Eastern Conference victory over Denmark on Tuesday in Clintonville.

Selina Torrez led a balanced Clintonville attack with 13 points. Erin Viergutz added 12 points, while Jordan Lehman had 11 and Abby King seven.

Viergutz pulled down 13 rebounds, while Elly Arndt had eight.

“It was nice to bounce back and get a win after taking one on the chin the night before,” said Clintonville coach Nick Yaeger. “I thought the difference was how we came out on defense to start the game. They were intense and didn’t give up anything easy. The girls played hard in front of the home crowd and I’m proud of them.”
