VOLLEYBALL

Gresham posts 2-0 mark at triangular

Gresham swept Rosholt (25-19, 25-20, 25-11) and Gillett (25-14, 25-10, 25-9) during a triangular on Aug. 24 in Gresham.

Against Rosholt, Maddie Haffner racked up 27 service points and five aces, while Hannah Cerveny led the team with 23 assists. Valarie Cerveny had 14 kills, and Lexi Baddmoccosin-Barnes tallied seven digs.

In the sweep of Gillett, Hannah Cerveny tallied 22 assists, while Valarie Cerveny had 10 kills. Jessa Jensen totaled 10 service points and nine kills, while Haffner had seven digs.

"I thought all of our players had some excellent stretches throughout the night," said Gresham coach Tim Wild. "It's nice to have some good balance and not have to depend on one or two players to make plays for us. Overall, I am pleased with our performance tonight and we look forward to a tough tournament on Thursday."

Witt-Birn goes 1-3 at tournament

Wittenberg-Birnamwood defeated Northland Pines (25-21, 17-25, 15-7) but dropped matches to Eau Claire Memorial (25-20, 22-25, 15-7), Wisconsin Rapids (23-25, 25-10, 17-15) and Berlin (25-17, 23-25, 15-11) during a tournament on Aug. 24 in Stevens Point.

In the win over Northland Pines, London Metropulos led Witt-Birn with nine total kills, while Reese Rogowski had seven attack kills. Lilly Betry and Payton Foster totaled eight and six assists, respectively, while Kiara Deruchowski had six digs.

Against Eau Claire Memorial, Rogowski and Metropulos finished with eight and six attack kills, respectively. Foster tallied eight digs and Foster had 12 assists. Metropulos recorded six attack kills and six digs against Wisconsin Rapids, with Rogowski and Layla Huffman adding five attack kills each. Jadalynn Davids was credited with three block kills.

In the loss to Berlin, Foster totaled 10 assists and eight digs, with Betry also tallying eight digs. Rogowski had 12 total kills, while Metropulos had eight attack kills.

Oconto Falls ties for 3rd at invite

Oconto Falls earned wins over Wrightstown (25-12, 22-25, 17-15) and Chilton (25-21, 25-17) and lost to Xavier (25-21, 25-12) and Fox Valley Lutheran (25-11, 25-11) to tie for third at the Little Chute Invite on Aug. 24 in Little Chute.

In the win over Wrightstown, Emmie Magnin led the Panthers with 11 attack kills, while Brailyn St. Louis had seven. Magnin also had four total blocks. Quinn Eisch led the team with 13 digs, with Hailey Peitersen tallying a team-leading 19 assists.

Peitersen had 13 assists in the win over Chilton, with Hanna Krejcarek leading the way with seven digs. Magnin had six attack kills.

Magnin had seven attack kills, while Peitersen tallied six attack kills and 10 assists against Xavier. Krejcarek and Eisch posted 11 and nine digs, respectively. Magnin recorded four attack kills against FVL, with Peitersen contributing six assists.

Shawano 9

Antigo 2

Shawano rolled to a win over Antigo in a nonconference match on Aug. 24 in Shawano.

Ethan Schwitzer scored three goals to lead Shawano to victory. Julian Perez added two goals and an assist.

Jackson Boucher, Luke Guenther and Drake Herm recorded a goal and assist each for the Hawks. Owen Moesch scored the team's first goal within the first two minutes of action.

Shawano's Brayden Koenig was credited with an assist. Goalie Tucker Pyatskowit finished the night with five saves.

GIRLS GOLF

Shawano places 2nd at Bay meet

Shawano earned a team score of 215 to take second behind West De Pere (202) at a Bay Conference tour stop on Aug. 24 at Cherry Hills Golf Course in Sturgeon Bay.

Sophia Eggert fired a nine-hole round of 49 to tie for the top individual score on the day. Teghan Kristof shot a 51, while Riley Dreir tallied a 56. Braylyn Babino (59) and Elizabeth Kary (66) capped the five-golfer team.

Bonduel finished with a team score of 241.

Thea Tauchen led the Bears with a round of 57, while Ava Pleshek carded a 59. Sarah Garside (62), Kerry O'Harrow (63) and Meghan Wondra (68) capped the team.

GIRLS TENNIS

Pulaski unable to earn win at invitational

Pulaski dropped matches to Stevens Point (7-0), Wausau East (4-3) and River Falls (6-1) during an invitational on Aug. 24 in Wausau.

Kelsey Waggoner earned No. 1 singles win against Wausau East and River Falls to lead Pulaski on the day.

Rylee Miller (No. 4 singles) and the duo of Mikalah Due and Olivia Shelly (No. 3 doubles) had Pulaski's other wins against Wausau East.
