Girls Swim: Witt-Birn gets season off to strong start

COLBY — Several individuals from the Wittenberg-Birnamwood girls swim team turned in strong finishes at the Colby Pentathlon on Wednesday.

Annika Resch was the top finisher in the freshmen class. She finished first in the 50-yard breaststroke (36.79 seconds), 50 freestyle (27.82) and 100 IM (1:09).

McKenna Metropulos came in second in the junior class of competition. She swam to first place in the 50 freestyle (25.82).

Lauren Bahr finished third in the senior class, while Isabella Hegewald took fourth in the sophomore class. Alexa Chaney also competed in the sophomore class, coming in sixth.

“For the first meet of the season, I thought we swam very well,” said Witt-Birn coach John Rudeen. “I think the girls are set up for an exciting season.”
