BONDUEL — The Bonduel High School football team enjoyed another strong season on the field this fall, going 7-3 overall and taking third in the Central Wisconsin Conference-Large Division with a 4-2 mark. Several Bears were handed conference honors after the season wrapped up.

Seniors Cole Letter and Brody Wussow and juniors Max Sokolski and Isaac Banker all made the first team.

Letter made the team as a defensive back, while also landing on the honorable mention team as a quarterback.

“It is a honor to be recognized throughout the conference on both sides of the ball. Being placed among many other great players makes the recognition really special,” said Letter, who finished with 32 total tackles and a pair of interceptions on defense and 1,018 yards and 10 touchdowns as a passer.

“Being a senior, these accolades were a great way to cap off my football career, but I have to thank my teammates for putting me in areas to succeed and constantly helping me out.”

Sokolski made the first team as a running back, while Banker was listed as a receiver. Both players made the second team as linebackers.

Sokolski rushed for 749 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also catching a pair of touchdown passes. On defense, he totaled 57 tackles, a sack and an interception.

Banker caught 34 passes for 435 yards and three scores while adding 234 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. He led the team with 62 total tackles and nine tackles for loss. He also registered one sack.

Wussow also earned all-conference honors on both sides of the ball. He was a first team selection as an offensive lineman and honorable mention pick as a defensive lineman.

The senior tallied 28 total tackles on defense.

“These honors mean a little bit more to me since I am a senior,” Wussow said. “My entire football career, I’ve been working hard to become the best player I could and I’m very happy that my play was noticed and that I got all-conference nods because of it.”

Five other Bears also earned conference honors.

Senior kicker Logan Guenterberg, junior receiver Carson Robaidek and senior defensive linemen Tristan Tomashek and Alex Garside all made the second team.

Robaidek hauled in 28 passes for 381 yards and a team-leading four touchdown receptions. Garside finished with 26 total tackles, forced a fumble and had six tackles for loss.

Guenterberg was reliable on his extra points and did a strong job kicking off for Bonduel. Tomashek recorded three sacks, five tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and 17 total tackles.

Senior Dylan Springborn was an honorable mention as a defensive back, while Garside made the list as an offensive lineman.

Springborn turned into a lock-down corner in his first year of high school football, intercepting five passes.

Bonduel was awarded a No. 3 seed for the postseason, but was upset by sixth-seeded Coleman in a Division 6 first round contest.

Menominee Indian

In the CWC-Small Division, Menominee Indian turned in a 2-7 regular season, going 1-4 in conference play.

Despite not qualifying for the playoffs, the Eagles played in a 10th game, losing a 62-41 shootout at Green Bay West on Oct. 24.

Five Eagles were honored for their CWC-Small play on the field.

Sophomore Andre Corn was only team member to make the first team, doing so as a defensive back and receiver.

For the entire season, Corn caught 40 passes for 663 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed for 380 yards and four more scores.

On defense, Corn accumulated 105 tackles, four tackles for loss and a pair of interceptions. He also forced three fumbles and knocked down nine passes.

“As only a sophomore, it means everything in the world to me to make first team all-conference on both sides of the ball,” said Corn. “I worked as hard as I could at practice, from doing drills and getting to the weight room. I worked as hard as I could to get where I’m at. Making first team all-conference for offense was one of my goals all year long, and I made the most out of it and I’ve accomplished that.”

Senior offensive lineman James Peters landed on the second team. He was credited with 23 pancake blocks on the season and surrendered just one sack.

The other three Eagles to earn all-conference honors were on the honorable mention list.

Senior Tiger Dixon was recognized as a quarterback and punter. Senior Mariano Lyons made the list as a tight end, and sophomore Allen Smith made it as a linebacker.

Dixon passed for 1,467 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ran for a score and caught another.

The senior averaged over 35 yards per punt and pinned the opponent inside its own 20 four times.

Lyons finished the season with 10 receptions for 125 yards and a pair of two-point conversions. He also excelled as a blocker, posting 11 pancake blocks.

Smith totaled 55 tackles for his team, with six going for losses. He also posted three sacks, forced a fumble and knocked down five passes.

Menominee Indian was competing in its first 11-man season since 2014. The Eagles played 8-player football from 2015-2018.
