Electa “Tammy” Fox

On Aug. 23, 2021, Electa “Tammy” Fox, 78, of Sobieski, drew her last earthly breath. She was born in 1943 in Gary, Indiana, to Theodore P. Fox and Sadie Helen (Shier) Krubsack Fox. After graduating from high school, Tammy enlisted in the U.S. Navy, joining its Medical Corps and studying to become a Physician Assistant. After nine years of proud military service, Tammy moved to Mountain, where her father resided. She then passed her medical boards and became one of the first PAs to work in northeastern Wisconsin. Her first job was with Dr. Ken Strebe; and her medical career spanned more than 50 years during which she worked at the Dousman Clinic and for Oneida Health Care Services where, for four years, she was its director. She finished her career in 2013 after working for Community Memorial Clinic in Oconto.

Tammy was a born caregiver to others, notwithstanding her own medical issues which she struggled with over the years, always pushing forward despite her pain and disabilities and always willing to lend a helping hand and share her knowledge with anyone in need. Her caregiving extended to all living creatures. In 1968, a fellow Naval corpsman gave Tammy a dachshund whom Tammy named “Jackie.” Thus began her love affair with this breed of dog. Over her lifetime, Tammy loved and cared for 12 dachshunds, six of whom were rescues.

Tammy had a full and happy life that included her love for her family. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Dorothy Krubsack and Joan Fox Penix (Daryl); nephews and nieces, William Sniff (Rebecca), Cathy Shaller (Mickey), and Michelle Sehmer (Steve); and numerous grandnephews and nieces. Tammy was also blessed with wonderful friendships, including with best friend, Gail Coleman, whom Tammy knew for more than 50 years. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jack and Cliff Krubsack, and Theodore Fox Jr.; sister, Patronella Sniff; brother-in-law, Dick Sniff; and nephew, Paul Fox.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, at Church of the Holy Apostles (2937 Freedom Road) in Oneida from noon pm until the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rodger Patience presiding. Military honors will follow the service. Masks are requested.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Tammy’s name to your local humane society or to the American Heart Association.

Tammy’s loved ones extend a very special thank you to the staff of the ICU at St. Mary’s Hospital and to the caregivers at Woodside Rehab. Tammy was grateful to all her wonderful caregivers over these past several years and to all of her friends, especially Gail whom she could always count on. Tammy wanted to remind everyone to be kind, and to adopt a rescue animal.
