Dorothy Peebles

Dorothy Olga Hedwig Schmoldt Peebles, 92, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021.

She was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Watertown, daughter of the late to John and Minnie (Jacob) Schmoldt, the youngest of five children.

She was a graduate of Girl’s Technical High School, Miles, in 1947. Dorothy received an honor pin for service to Girl’s Tech, the National Honor Society and a delegate to Badger Girls State in Madison. Dorothy was honored by Shawano County as 1964 and 1965 Outstanding Young Farmer.

On April 24, 1948, she was united in marriage to Kenneth I. Peebles in Milwaukee.

Besides caring for her family, Dorothy helped run their large dairy farm and raised Appaloosa horses. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Navarino 4-H group, worked with the AIM team, the Appaloosa Horse Club and was a grateful member of Al-Anon. She enjoyed the Packers, crocheting and playing cards with Traci and Judy.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Glen (Phyllis) Peebles; daughter, Lori Block, Bonduel; four grandsons: Lee Block, Bonduel, Eric (Anne) Peebles, Bonduel, Adam (Katie) Peebles, Pulaski, and Kenneth (fiancée Kathy) Eder, Nichols; four great-grandchildren, Vincent, Lucia, Thomas and Margaret, with another coming in September; numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by Kenneth Peebles in 2007; one son, Marvin Iver Peebles, in 1955 at 3 years old; sister, Gertrude Zastrow; and brothers, Robert, Harold and Edward Schmoldt.

Visitation will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Navarino until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. with pastors Mark and Marcia Sabin officiating.
