Deer Hunters’ Dinner tradition carries on

Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church, 202 N. Ellms St., Wittenberg, will have its annual Deer Hunters’ Dinner again this year, but with a few changes.

On Saturday, Nov. 21, from 3-7:30 p.m., there will be drive-through pick-up service only with an emphasis on safety and social distancing.

Though there is no indoor seating, guests won’t go away hungry. The menu includes chicken, ham, potatoes, stuffing, vegetable, gravy and rolls. Pie choices this year will be apple, pumpkin or pecan.

Dinner tickets will be sold carside at at the church entrance, and orders will be delivered to vehicles at the next door.
Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m.

“This dinner tradition started in the mid-1960s to help build the present church building,” said Margie Mech, event volunteer. “We are looking forward to serving our returning hunters and neighbors.”
