Daniel C. Janz

Daniel Craig Janz, 79, of Thornton, entered his home in heaven on Friday, July 23, 2021. Dan was born on July 17, 1942, in Portchester, New York, to Mary Logan and F. Everett Janz. He graduated from Portchester High School and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Dan met and married Beatrice Weisener in Chicago and together they moved to Bemiji, Minnesota, to operate their businesses, Hartz Grocery Store and Sunflower Foods. Dan moved his family to Shawano in 1987 to work for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2012.

Dan is survived by four children, Andrew, Mary (Brian) Schmidgall, Nathanael, and Stephen; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Muriel Guinta and Aloha Hicks. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Beatrice; brothers, William and Russell; sisters, Janet La Bella and Mary Sawicki; and brothers-in-law, Jack Guinta and Edward Hicks.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 31 N. Park St., Clintonville, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Caleb Rothfuss officiating. Dan will be interred in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
