Cross-Country: Clintonville’s Wilson wins Marion Invitational

MARION — Jesse Wilson won the Marion Invitational on Monday to help the Clintonville boys cross-country team place second. Wilson completed the course in 18 minutes, 54 seconds.
Clintonville finished with a team score of 39, just two points back of Weyauwega-Fremont.

Cameron Mauel (20:01) and Cody Carrico (20:18) also landed in the top 10 for the Truckers, taking fourth and sixth, respectively. Brody Prill (21:33) and Casey Ploederl (21:43) filled out the team score, placing 14th and 16th, respectively.

Clintonville didn’t qualify for a girls team score, but had all three runners finish in the top 10. Kayla Klemp (25:09) finished fifth, Jasmine Wilson (25:36) sixth and Allison Smejkal (27:23) 10th.

Emma Komanekin was the lone Menominee Indian girls runner, taking second in 23:08.

The Menominee Indian boys took third place as a team, led by Isaiah Moss (19:19) and Ashton Corn (20:11), who claimed second and fifth place, respectively. Lloyd Reevis (23:17), Jamison Besaw (23:22) and Joshua Besaw (23:44) filled out the team.

The Marion girls were one of two teams to qualify for a team score, taking second. Nora Wiesman (29:03), Kelsey Zillmer (31:16), Claire Dow (31:44), Haiyle Larson (31:52) and Hannah Krueger (34:17) formed the team.

The Marion boys took fifth, led by Ethan Pockat’s 15th-place finish in 21:39. Jaden Stuhr (23:07), Gavin James (25:07), Isaiah Gueths (25:58) and Jack VanKooy (30:27) filled out the rest of the team.

Gresham/Bowler had six total runners competing, but didn’t qualify for a team score on the boys or girls side.

Ireland Jensen (28:28) came in 12th in the girls race, while Maya Thiex (31:53) also competed. Levi Schick (20:43) took 10th to lead the boys co-op. Isaiah Bestul (25:07), Austin Slater (26:00) and Donnie Edwards (29:38) also ran for the boys.
