County libraries continue to offer services

By:

The Shawano County Library and its branches continue to serve patrons through curbside services as well as through computer use appointments inside the libraries.

Computers can be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis for up to one hour per patron per day. Those needing computer access can contact the specific branch to make a reservation. Reservations are limited to ensure adequate distance between computer users.

A variety of services are available through curbside appointments including faxing, copying, scanning and checking out materials. Materials to checkout can be requested by phone or by filling out the form on the library’s website: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeEfdLi5Z42n8jk2wwFEwGRW7iNMhOX....

In addition to books, movies and audiobooks, items available to checkout include the popular Library of Things collection, binge boxes and Chromebooks. Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional items such as knitting needles, cookie cutters, exercise equipment, tools, metal detector, cake pans, air fryer, instruments, anatomy kits, laminator, digital projector, microscope and more. The items checkout like a book and then get returned to the library. Binge boxes contain movies on a common theme, such as “Never Travel with Tom Hanks,” “Marvel Movies” and “Man’s Best Friend.”

Digital books, audiobooks, movies, music and magazines continue to be available through the Overdrive and hoopla collections.

Mobile printing is now available at all branches, except Birnamwood. Patrons can upload print jobs from offsite or from mobile devices and then pick up the printed documents at the library.

Library programs continue to be available virtually on the library’s Facebook page and Youtube channel. Some programs are also available as a pre-packaged kit that can be requested through a curbside pickup appointment. Program kits are available for all ages.
