KESHENA — One incumbent and two newcomers wound up on top in the Jan. 15-16 election for the Menominee Tribal Legislature.

Incumbent Ronald Corn Sr., who is completing his first term on the legislature, was the top vote getter with 337. Ronald Waukau Sr. received 279 votes, while Gena Kakkak received 226 votes. The three newly elected legislators will be sworn into office on Feb. 9 at the legislature’s reorganizational meeting. The legislators will serve three-year terms.

Also in the running were Randal Chevalier, who received 203 votes; Karl Peters, 182 votes; and Vincent Grignon St., 141 votes.

Besides Corn, the seats for Eugene Caldwell and Craig Corn were available. Caldwell opted not to seek reelection, while Craig Corn had to step down because of term limits. Legislators are limited to three consecutive terms in office.
